The Israeli Coastal Plain is a name to a geographic region that includes a flat and low-lying narrow strip around the Mediterranean Sea. It has 3 regions (from north to south): Sharon - Haifa - Herzliyya, Gush Dan - Tel Aviv - Rishon LeZion and Southern Mishor HaHof Rishon LeZion - Ashkelon.
This geographic region has 20 kilometers wideness and the hills range goes up to over 100 meters above the sea, when among the hills there are lower regions.
This geographic region is the most populated region in Israel, when its central cities are: Netanya, Tel Aviv and the Gush Dan area, Hertzelia, Kfar Saba, Rehovot, Rishon Le-Zion, Ramle, Ashdod and Ashkelon.
The climate at the Costal Plain is half humid, as been close to the sea makes it comfortable. One of the characteristics of this region's is the sea breezes, which is dry at summer time. The maximal average temperature at August is about 33 degrees, when at January it is about 24 degrees.
Among the Costal Plain's characteristics of nature there are special plants that belong to the sea shore area, like Lilies for example. At the southern area of the Costal Plain there are different species of animals, among them there are also special kind of birds and reptiles.
Along the region's cost cities there are beautiful developed beaches, which attract many at summer time.
At the beaches of Ashkelon and Caesaria there are also old important sites.
Due to the major percentage of population number the Costal Plain has become Israel's nightlife canter and a place that is filled with culture and museums.
