Jerusalem and the Dead Sea geographic region is located at the mid-east of Israel. This region includes the Jordan Valley strip, the Yehuda & Shomron mountainous strip and the Dead Sea area.
The Yehuda & Shomron area is a part of a mountainous strip that spreads in the east of the Jordan valley, and considered to be a geologic crater. In the area there are the mountains Grizim, which rise to 881 meters, and Eival, that rise to 940 meters above sea level.
The Jordan valley is the area that spreads in the 70 kilometers from the Gilboa Mountain in the north, to the Dead Sea. The northern part of the valley is about 200 meters below sea level, when the southern part, at the Dead Sea area, goes to 400 meters below sea level. The climate at the geographic region of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea is defers by the area that this region include. At most of the Yehuda & Shomron area the climate is humid, and when you go to the South-eastern area it is getting drier. At the Jordan valley the climate is mostly hot and dry, and it's considered to be the hottest area in Israel. The maximum average temperatures at the Yehuda, Shomron and Jordan valley are about 40 degrees at the month of August, and about 23 at January. The maximum average temperatures in Jerusalem and its area are about 34 degrees in August and about 18 degrees in January.
There are many important touristy sites to visit at this area, except for the ones that you can find in Jerusalem and other central cities in this geographic region. It offers different track and walking paths.
The Yehuda, Shomron and Jordan valley area is known for its biblical sites, when there are many places that have historical importance and connection to the biblical era. The Dead Sea area is one of the most important tourism areas in Israel, and its hold lots of magnificent sites, hotels, health clubs and spa. The main settlements at this geographic region are, Jerusalem, Nablus, Tul-Karem, Ariel, Bet Shemesh, Qiryat Gat.
The important tour sites in the region are: The Shomron national park, Mount Grizim, Mount Eival, the Rabin national park, the Britannia national park, the national park of Bet Jubrin, the Ayalon national park, the Tel Lachish national park, Mount Sodom, the national park of Mezada and the Ein Gedi reserve.
