Eilat and Arabah, is a geographic region in Israel, and it is located in the south of the country at the southernmost area. The city of Eilat is a beautiful port city in the eastern part of the Red Sea, bordering with Egyptian city of Taba and the Jordanian city of Aqaba. The Arabah area, spreads over 103 is a part of a valley that connects between the Dead Sea and the north part of Aqaba gulf. The climate in the Eilat & Arabah region has desert characteristics, which makes it a very hot, dry and arid region. The weather in Eilat is the hottest in Israel, when it influenced by the closeness to the Negev, Sinai, Arabian and Sahara deserts. The maximal average temperature in the month of August is about 39 degrees and about 23 degrees in January.
Eilat is known for its natural and artificial tourism attractions, and for a fact has become over the years one of the most important and popular tour cities in Israel. The Red Sea is a natural habitat of many tropical marine species and with the many exotic landscapes that surround the city, it becomes more attractive. The city is a major tour center with large luxurious hotels, small hostels and rural cabins. It operates non-stop attractive activities for all the family and a very developed nightlife with nightclubs, pubs, coffee shops and restaurants.
The Arabah area is barley populated, when there are almost no settlements from the Jordanian side of the area, except a little number of kibbutzim in its Israeli side.
The Region is filled with natural unique attractive sites among them the Arabah colorful cliffs and sharp-topped mountains and the Ramon Crater. The Timna National Park is one of the interesting ones in the country and it offers prehistoric rock carvings and some of the oldest mines in the world.
Due to the desert characteristics the Eilat & Arabah geographic region holds the desert typical views, with great ideal places to travel by jeeps and by walking.
Among the important sites to visit or travel in this region there are also Kibbutz Yotveta, the national park of Timna, Mount Yoash and the Barak River. |
