About The
Company
The beginning of Index Media occurred in
April 1978 when two young reporters, Amos Asharov and Yosi Gidoni,
got together in partnership to produce a new magazine named 'Tel
Aviv Neighborhoods'.
The magazine was published once a month with news and articles,
about the southern neighborhoods of Tel Aviv. The magazine was
sponsored by advertisements of different business, authorities and
public institutes and distributed among the inhabitants of south Tel
Aviv.
In the magazine framework, which became a household name all over
the city, the young partners produced several events, such as a
writing competition among the students in the south of the city. The
competition included a big event, when community leader, Member of
Knesset (Israeli parliament) and many important figures came to
participate.
This partnership, between Asharov and Gidoni, developed when they
decided to accept more employees.
And so, in 1978 the little company produced its first index guide -
'Bidur u'Bama' (Stage and Entertainment), when the company rented
offices in Volfson / Chlenov Street, in Tel Aviv.
Bidur u'Bama, the company's main guide, was the first in a series of
many other guides, among them Index Tourism Guide, Index Fashion
Guide and DfusGraph - the Print & Graphics guide.
Simultaneously, the company started to publish the DfusGraph - Print
Magazine, a quarterly professional magazine for the Print and
Graphics field.
Between 1980 to 1988, this publishing company has turned into one of
the pioneers in the Israeli local press scene and published a series
of weekly local papers, based on the free add board, Index.
In 1990 Index Publishing Ltd. occupied 55 employees, and began the
production of Index Food & Drinks Guide, Index Shoe & Leather Guide
and Events & Celebration Guide.
The Index guides production is carried out with the most advanced
technical processes, which includes computerized production of all
the graphic material.
One of the basic rules, which the company is operating according to,
is the free distribution of the published guides. This move is
taking place in order to get the advertisers the best exposure to
all of their costumers.
Another basic rule is the fact that every business is entitled to
have one line (with the name, address, map and phone number) in the
relevant guide for no charge.
During the 90's the company learned the map of future communication
and technology, with the investment in the internet field.
Index's web site was one of the pioneers among the Israeli web site
field.
Today the site includes 10 professional portals in different areas,
such as Tourism, Entertainment, Printing, Events, Food and Fashion.
The site is offering an updated search system, professional forums
in different subjects and interactive system to connect between the
firm and the browsers.
In March 27th 1993 the company has produced the first "Win a Car"
event, when the company conducted a lottery among its costumers and
gave away a new Peugeot.
The big success of the "Win a Car" event has brought the conductors
to produce the same event for more several times.
During the 90's the company moved its offices to a new location, in
Menahem Begin Street in Tel Aviv and shaped by its now days form
with graphics, internet, sales and bookkeeping departments.
In August 2000 the company got into another field of activity -
Events shows, weddings and Bar Mitzvas.
The first Geshsm shel Erueem (Rain of Events) show took place in
Jerusalem, under the supervising of the Sales manager in the
Jerusalem area, Oren Ziv.
