One of the most beautiful coasts in Israel, a rare winter pond and lots of diamonds
Among the packed tour schedules you get to find in Israel you need to have somewhere to just relax, from all the unique things to see and do. There's no better place to recommend other than the city of Netanya, which can defiantly get into the most beautiful cities of the country. In 1929 citrus farmers founded the city, but since then it has became primarily a center for diamond trade and tourism. The city of Netanya is a city in the Center District of Israel, and even calld the capital of the sharon area, since it is the biggest at this area. Its city's total population is around 170,000 people. The city was founded in 1928, and named after the Jewish American philanthropist, Nathan Strauss.
Since it doesn't have any major tourist attractions, the city is sometimes overlooked, and can be a convenient stop, just 30 minutes north of Tel Aviv 1 hour from Jerusalem, and 20 minutes south of Caesarea. One of the most beautiful cities in Israel, lies on a sea shore and got the nick name "A Diamond in the Med", thanks to the prosperity of it's diamond manufactures.  Netanya considered a home to many diamond cutters and polishers, who came to before and during World War II, to Palestine, primarily from Belgium. Now days Israel is one of the world's largest exporters of diamonds, this is the country's principal export to the U.S., and Netanay takes a big share at the diamond filed. The most attractive characteristic of the sparkling city is within the fact that it's beaches are unique because they are lying below to a cliffs. That's what separates the beaches from the city itself.
Great sea shores Netanya is known mostly by its magnificent beaches. These great sea shores are the reason for what attracts tourists and citizens to the city. The fact that it is blessed with 13.5 km beautiful golden beaches, adorned with limestone cliffs and promenades is what makes Netanya a true sea shore city. 7 beaches are operated by 8 life guard stations. The stations are active during the summer months, between May and October, except the Sironit Beach which is active all year long.
Among the beautiful beaches there's also the Seasons Beach, which lies below the Seasons Hotel. It is known also as the Youth Beach. You can also get there by the Shaked Promenade. Restaurant and a dance bar are located on the beach. A Restaurant, Palm trees, sun shades and play grounds are some of the attractions you can find at Herzl Beach, which is the extended part of Herzl Street and the Atzmaut Square. There's also a sport center where activities take place and equipment renting.
Promenades with a view to the sea Another tourists pearl are the promenade. Each bears a different style and beauty, characterized by elements of sculpture and design. A long 4.5 km there are 5 promenades, which look like attractive green striped line along the cliff tops, overlooking the beaches which connect to the city and its hotels. Netanya's beautiful gardens are located along the cliffs overlooking the beaches where you can find restaurants and different activities for children. 
Mostly during the summer time there are lots of free entertainment at the amphitheater and the promenades facing the sea.
Along Ben Ami Blvd there is a cliff promenade which rises over the hills and offers recreation corners facing the sea.
The savage cliffs add natural beauty add a very different character to the place. In the middle of this area, there is a colorful paragliding site and a kind of a playground for children. The Promenade received the Beautiful Israel 2004 prize from the Council for a Beautiful Israel. The access to the main beach located below the Rishonim Promenade, and becomes possible by a transparent elevator. Along the promenade there are restaurants, playing grounds for children and cafes. The elevator has been built, is considered the first one of its kind in Israel, and located in the middle of the promenade. Shaked Promenade parallel to Nitza Blvd. and David Hamelech Street includes Hama’apilim and Gan Hamelekh Promenades. Along this promenade there is a kind of a balcony which is viewing the sea and an amphitheater with an acoustic shell, and contains about 1000 sits. On the stage, various activities take place.
Two restaurants are located along the promenade, one is surrounded by a small lake and a water fall near a small wooden bridge, the other has a pagoda roof.
On this promenade there is a tiled skating rink and recreation corners. You can also find an art area, with private galleries and a municipal gallery exhibiting works of the best Israeli artists. Harishonim Promenade parallel to Gad Macnes St., is a natural continuation to the pedestrian area and Ha’atzmaut Square. The Nitza Promenade is a green spot in the heart of the city. It is running along 350 meters, and clearly has its view to the sea. Along the sea shore you can enjoy sport facilities restaurants on the beach or national and international sport events, festivals and surfing championships. The nine large pergolas made of wood and stone along the promenade, make it very unique. Every pergola has a different geometric shape, color and specific symbols of Mediterranean character.
Unique winter pond Even though Netanya seems to be attractive mostly in the summer time, in the winter month you can enjoy a very special winter pond.
The pond is one of a kind in Israel, when you can track down birds and water creatures. The pond area is also known as Netanya park or the winter pond park.
