Mount Hermon

Mount Hermon is the highest elevation in Israel that arises to 2814 meters above sea level, and it is located on the border between Syria and Lebanon.

The mountain has a seasonal snow, which covers its top most of the year days, especially in winter time.
The water that melts from the snow form three rivers and some strings. The strings and the rivers merge into theSki Jordan River.

The mountain is the only ski resort in Israel, and it has a wide range of ski trails for novices, intermediates and experts.
The Hermon ski resort is the most developed one in the Middle East area.
The site includes different kinds of activities for all the family, like snow sliding, ski school, ski patrol, Nordic skiing and several restaurants.

The place is also considered to be a very beautiful and romantic site, which forms one of the greatest geographic resources of the area.

Israeli is holding the mountain area since 1981, and the place is heavily guarded with the Israeli Police and with Israel Defense Forces.
Israel controls a strategic observation at Lebanon and Syria, at the most highest elevation in the country, at 2224 meters above sea level.
This is why the mountain is also called the eyes of the nation in Israel because its heights make it a strategic early warning system.
The mountain is also considered to be a part of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range, when it is a cluster of mountains with three distinct summits, each about the same height.

The Anti Lebanon Range extends for approximately 150 kilometers trough the northeast southwest direction.
The mountain is considered to be a site where Jesus came to pray with three of his disciples, and where he was transfigured.
