Transportation

It is easy to get from one place to another in Israel, because is a small country, in a relatively short time. 
There are few ways to travel in the country, beginning with public transportation and ending by an internal flight.
In the following lines you can find information about transportation and ways to travel in IsraelTransportation.
In general, you can get anywhere by public transportation, which includes buses and railways.
This way is convenient when you can get to your desirable destination by paying a reasonable price.
But there are more ways to get from one place to another such as taxis, flights and car rental. 

Busses
The most popular public transportation in the country is busses, when you can get to places in the cities and between them.
The company that operates most of the bus line in Israel is Egged, when in The Gush Dan area there is the Dan company, that that can get you anywhere in this area. 
Tickets can be bought on the busses from the drivers, and in the central stations that are usually located in the center of the large cities. In the central bus stations you can also find an information booth and electronic boards that display the departure times and destinations.
In Be'er Sheva and Nazareth the bus services are operated by privet companies.
Most of the bus lines in the country are operating in a frequent time, and are very comfortable and air conditioned.
Busses do not operate in Shabbat and on Jewish holidays, when on Fridays the service ends at the afternoonTransportation.

Railways
Traveling by trains is recommended because it can get you to your desirable location in a short time.
Recently Israel Railways has been expanded and improved, when now trains run more frequently and get you to more destinations, there are more train stations in the major cities, and the trains are more comfortable. 
The railway service is running from Nahariya in the north, through Tel Aviv and most of the large cities, and to Dimona in the south, including Jerusalem and Ben Gurion airport.
Train tickets can be bought at the ticket booth or ticket machine at the stations. 
Trains do not run on Shabbat or on Jewish holidays.

Taxicabs
The more expensive way to get to places in the cities is by taxi, but you can also find service taxis and pay less thenTransportation using a privet taxi.
In the cities privet taxis charge by meter, for an intercity drive the fare is standard and set by the Ministry of Transportation.
If don't want to pay a surprising fare, it is recommended to verify the fare before boarding the taxi.
Most of the privet taxi companies are operating in Sabbath and holidays.
The service taxis are operating in several local and intercity lines, with a cheaper fare to the same line on bus.
These service taxis stop at permanent stops and by a passenger's request along the way.
The departure time is when the taxi is full with passengers, when there are several lines, mostly the intercity ones, which operate in Sabbath and holidays.

Internal Flights
Flight is worth taking only in order to get from Tel Aviv or Haifa to Eilat, due to the fact that Israel is a small country.
Israel is a small country, and for this reason it is only worthwhile to consider flying between Eilat and Tel Aviv or Haifa. Several companies operate flights from Eilat to Haifa, Ben Gurion Airport, or Sde Dov in north Tel Aviv.  Airfares are reasonable, but are still much higher than bus fares. 
There are also private companies that operate special flightsTransportation from anywhere in the country upon request, but this service is expensive.

Renting a Car
If you decide to rent a car, in order to travel in Israel, you can do it by the offices of most international or local offices of the car rental, which you can find in the large cities and at the airport.
The most recommended way is to reserve in advance before you arrive.
In order to rent a car in Israel the driver should be over 21 years old, and must carry a valid international driver's license.
In Israel driving is on the right side of the road, and getting from one place to another can be done by using a map or asking for directions.
