Herzliya is a city in the Coastal Plain region of Israel, located in the south of the Sharon area in the region. The city is located between Tel Aviv (in the south) and Netanya (in the north), and considered to be a part of the Gush Dan area. It is named after the founder of the Zionism, Zeev Binyamin Theodor Herzel, since the foundation of the settlement in 1924.
The city is one of the most attractive in the country for tourists, since its costal features and the various suggests in the accommodation field.
Today the city has many sea viewed hotels that offer over 600 rooms, when the future plans are pointing to the target of over 700 rooms.
The city has one of the more attractive nightlife in the country, operating a center of nightclubs, pubs, movie theaters and restaurants.
In the city area you can also find an archeological park which is contains the ruins of Apollonia, which was destroyed with the expulsion of the Crusaders. In addition it has a magnificent marina that is being developed and extended. The marina area includes a shopping mall, one of the most exclusive restaurants center in the county, and a yacht club where you can get to sail throughout the open Mediterranean Sea. One of the characteristics of this coast city is of course the great beaches that attract many.
You can also find two of the attractive malls in Israel among the city's sites, as well as a small airport, museums and an Olympic stadium.
The west area of the city is called Herzliya Pituah, and its business and hi-tech area, exclusive residents, and hotels are located along the coast. The area is considered to be one of the wealthiest in Israel and it includes several countries ambassadors' residents.
