The Jerusalem Municipality’s Tourism Authority and the Jerusalem Development Authority are proud to launch two additional routes to the eight that may already be found on the innovative Jerusalemp3 project, Jaffa Street and Government Hill. This unique project, the first of its kind and scope in the world, and one which has been launched for the first time in the country, provides a new and enriching tourism experience for the wider public free-of-charge, as part of the endeavor to promote tourism from Israel and around the world to Jerusalem.
The internet site offers audio guidance to 80 different sites in the city (phase 1) in Hebrew and English. These may be downloaded as MP3 files, providing the tourist with early information about the cultural and tourism sites in Jerusalem, as well as enabling the tourist to visit the city’s sites independently.
How does it work? Visit the internet site: http://www.jerusalemp3.co.il (or for English-readers http://www.jerusalemp3.com) Pick a site and download the files into a portable audio device (players, mobile phones, navigation computers and more) or burn to a disk. Each route also includes video, text, photos and a printable map, so that the route can be organized by skipping between tracks, thus controlling the pace of your trip and choosing which sites are of interest to you.
Simply operated, the visitor may then travel through Jerusalem independently, alone or with one’s family, at one’s own personal pace, turning the visit into a truly personal experience. As part of the family experience, you may also download the “Seek-Me” game – fun for everyone.
The routes have been compiled the Yanait Ben-Zvi Center, narrated by professional narrators and saved as MP3 files. For each route, the audio and video files, the maps and the written texts (for the hearing-impaired) pertaining each and every site are easily located. The project includes 8 routes, at this point (in Hebrew and English): Ein Karem, the Mount of Olives, Nahla’ot Nevi’im Street, the Jewish Quarter and the Via Dolorosa. Two new routes are Jaffa Street and Government Hill.
